There are many ideas but I'm partial to Casey Stengel's explanation about this is where pitchers "shoot the bull".  What are your thoughts?

I would have to say Mr. Stengel had the right idea!  Unfortunately we don't have a mannner to run a bullpen with the manner in which Little League is set up for Safety Purposes.

If you send two kids to warm up in "the pen" a coach is going to have to go with them, if you have 3 coaches and your on offense that means you'd have to pull somebody off the bases, in order to put another coach in the dugout.  That certainly isn't a problem, but as a League we haven't gotten into the habit of putting kids on the bases as coaches.  You'll also start to eventually catch flak at the Tournament Level since LL requires all players be in the dugout or on the field

Now that is a topic (child base coaches) for another post.............

Never raise your hands to a child.  It leaves your mid-section exposed.
